About the event
Approximately 50 mins of lecture with built in real world scenarios for attendees to practice medical math. Starts with the basics of conversions, dosages and dilutions to review and moves on to complex constant rate infusions. I break down the equation step by step to make it easy to understand and memorize. There is a supplemental worksheet that attendees can also acquire prior to the lecture to “practice” math prior to the lecture and come prepared with questions or difficulties they may have encountered. Attendees are encouraged to “bring your math problems” to the lecture. Anything recently encountered in practice can be discussed and reviewed.
Objectives:
- Understand the basic conversions for standard to metric systems and be able to use appropriately.
- Gain a working knowledge of each component of a constant rate infusion equation and be able to apply appropriately.
- Gain the ability to determine which equation to apply to each different scenario presented to ensure reduction or elimination of medical mathematical errors that may be harmful to patients.
